I’m mailing something to someone in CA from Ontario, can I put it in the mailbox or do I take it to a post office? Do I need specific stamps? How much/many? Someone please give me all the details, I’m new to this! Thanks!
Whose responsibility is it to clear snow in front of shared mailbox post?
My mailbox is across the street from my house, on a neighbors property. There are three mailboxes together at that location. Mine, the neighbors across the street and the people next to them.
I just moved into this house last summer and have never shared a mailbox post before. I have, thus far, assumed that the snow in front of the mailbox was the responsibility of the person who had the mailboxes on their property.
But now I’m wondering if we are supposed to rotate the snow removal (I do it once, then them, then the other neighbor). If so, what am I supposed to do with the snow I remove? Haul it across the street to my yard? Throw it in their yard?
I guess that I assumed that it’s like the fire hydrant. It’s not on my property, so it’s not my job to clear it. That said, in case of fire…I’ll be using it.
Guess I was looking for "Good Neighbor" category. The city rules state that the mailcarrier must have access with mailtruck to the mailboxes.
I KNOW that I’m not breaking a law. Just worried that I’m being a bad neighbor.

Home business. Not allowed to post a sign, but can I decorate my mailbox?
I’m a music teacher with a studio at home in Andover Borough, NJ, run legally under zoning laws. The zoning laws state this about posting a sign "Except for permitted signs, there shall be no physical evidence of said use visible from the exterior of the building so used." Not sure what permitted signs mean, nothing seems to say. But obviously it needs to look like just a home. My mailbox, which sits at the side of the road, seems like a grey area though. It’s not a sign really, and everyone has a mailbox. Do you think I can decorate my mailbox with my business name and logo? I’d really like my customers/students to know that they’ve come to the right place.
My apartment complex has neglected to fix the mailbox at my building. Is it possible to take them to court?
The Post Office will not deliver the mail if the box is broken, for safety reasons. I have contacted the management team at my apartment complex. I have been given the runaround for nearly a month. People need their mail to conduct their bussiness. I’ve left messages with the Owner’s, contacted my Town Hall and still no results. Do I have any other options to work with. I simply want the mailbox fixed so that we in this building can receive our mail.
Where do you go if your landlord fails to give you mailbox keys?
My landlord when i moved in less than a week ago failed to give me a copy of the mailbox key. Now she’s saying she doesnt give me the mailbox key, its the post office. In the past, my previous apartment complexes, i received them via the landlord. So do i go to the post office, or do i get her to give me one?
Post office or mailbox? Which would be better?
I have to send friends some photos I took. Each friend is getting about four photos (on hard photo paper or whatever). I have put each friend’s photos in a folder (the kind businesses use) and then in a manilla envelope. What’s the best way to send these, from the post office or can I just toss ‘em in the mailbox? They’ve already been addressed and everything so is there a reason to send stuff at the post office vs. a box? Can these go in a bin or is that only for actual letters?
If I do bring it to the post office, the lady that works there is really mean and unhelpful. If I say that I want to send these, she’ll probably just point to the mail box without even looking to make sure they can go in there. How can I say, "I want to send these here because I wasn’t sure they could go in the box." without looking stupid?
I am mailing a letter to India, Can I just throw stamps on it and put it in the mailbox?
I need to mail a 3 page letter to a friend in India. I checked the USPS website and I know, roughly, how much it will cost but I wondered if I can just stick the right amount of stamps on it and put it in the mailbox or if I have to take to the Post Office so they can mark it "International" or something? Anyone know?
Will the USPS pickup large envelopes from mailbox?
OK, so I am planning to sell a few items on eBay. I have no time to deliver the packages to the USPS Post office, so I was wondering if they would pick them up.
-The ‘Large Envelopes’ are 6"x9" and 8.5"x11" (about 1-2" in thickness)
-They will have prepaid shipping labels from Pay-Pal.
If I just put them in the mailbox and put up the flag, would they pick it up and ship it?
