Right now all my tenants pay me electronically through their bank to mine. This makes things very simple for both me and my tenant. There is always a record of them sending it and one of me receiving it. It is tracked by the banks. It is so much easier this way. I would pay the $34 to avoid problems. I would also write your landlord explaining what happened. It may turn up and then he can just credit it for you next month. Like others have said, never pay cash.
